“All I wish is that every single company from Sibiu knows about this initiative!”

This week Adela Luta starts off her work as the new store manager for SOMARO Sibiu. We talked to her about her personal background, her motivation and her plans in the new job.

Dear Adela, can you tell us a little bit about your personal background and your career so far?

Adela: Let me start saying that I am 27 years old. I started my career directly after high school. I took part in a trainee programme of McDonald’s where I learned everything from how to make a hamburger to how to calculate a restaurant’s profit. After three years as a restaurant manager at McDonald’s I decided to work in sales, a field where I had to learn a lot and where I have consolidated my knowledge in marketing and sales, but finally I returned to the management level and led a local restaurant in Sibiu.

After all these experiences you decided to look for a new challenge at SOMARO. What motivates you to be part of the SOMARO initiative?

Adela: That is easy. SOMARO, besides the fact that it is a job opportunity for me, is one of the very few initiatives aiming at supporting the community. This initiative is the best example of social responsibility, which includes both the community’s people as well as the companies that do business here. In this project, we help reducing the waste costs and the general waste of aliments and allocate these products to people in difficulties. We don’t beg for products, we simply are a part of the logistic chain by which we show empathy and support for our fellow citizen. We combine the problem of wasting tons of products that are still consumable with social responsibility, offering people living under difficult circumstances an access to products which they could not purchase otherwise.

The store in Sibiu is the youngest of all SOMARO stores and is therefore still in a developing phase. What steps do you want to undertake to bring the store forward

Adela: Unfortunately, I don’t think there is any receipt or a certain number of steps that assure a satisfying outcome in the end. All I wish is that every single company or business from Sibiu knows about this initiative and the opportunities we offer them. I am sure that currently there are numbers of potential suppliers that have not heard of the store and that did not know that it exists an alternative to wasting products that still meet high quality standards.
Sibiu is a small community and I believe in the capacity of its inhabitants to understand the problems the community is confronted with. At the same time, I believe in the availability of people to offer a chance to those among us that are disadvantaged.

Thank you very much for that  interview Adela and we all wish you a great start at SOMARO!
